The story behind Mastin Accounting began in 2012 when Michael and Mary Mastin moved to The Villages from South Florida. The Mastins, both Iowa born and raised, wanted to pursue their dream of starting an accounting and tax business.

“We drove up to explore The Villages, and we it liked it so much, we ended up renting a house within hours,” Michael said. “There isn’t anything you can’t do in The Villages. You can join club, attend a theater, and dance in the squares.”

The Mastins started by collecting and delivering returns to clients’ homes. However, after attracting hundreds of clients, they wound up sharing an office with the late attorney Andrew Curtis. By 2018, the Mastins began renting an office in Oxford, where they are today.

The Mastins attribute success to their small-town Midwestern values – hard work, honest advice, and long days. That’s why Mastin Accounting, unlike most tax services, accepts appointments on Saturdays during the busy tax season.
